Gillnet Selectivity for Three Freshwater Alien Invasive Fish Species in a Long-Term Monitoring Scenario

نویسندگان

چکیده

Gillnet selectivity is poorly understood for most freshwater fish species, particularly invasive alien species. However, their use to determine mesh could be essential establishing management measures, such as the selective removal of exotic This study aims assess size species in a restored lentic ecosystem. Therefore, we analysed gillnet based on experimental fishing trials performed by using multimesh gillnets. Twice year, 8 years, nylon gillnets were set up Estany d’Ivars i Vila-sana, shallow lake Catalonia (NE Iberian Peninsula). We caught 4105 individuals belonging three widely distributed species—3583 pikeperches (Sander lucioperca (Linnaeus, 1758)), 115 common roaches (Rutilus rutilus 1758)) and 407 carps (Cyprinus carpio, Linnaeus, 1758). The SELECT method was applied fit six different uni- bimodal models. As result, bi-lognormal provides best line with previous studies that found size–frequency data skewed right or multimodal models when high numbers are captured. These results provide information required community presence these

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

Costs of alien invasive species in Sweden.

The purpose of this paper is to present calculations of total costs of 13 alien invasive species (AIS) in Sweden. All species are subject to control by Swedish public authorities, and estimates for most AIS include either damage cost or actual control cost. The results indicate a total annual cost between approximately 1620 and 5080 million SEK, which correspond to SEK 175 and SEK 565 per capit...
